Rubber Flex Submersible
The BMI Rubber Flex is the premium tier of our submersible pump cable range — engineered for conditions where standard PVC cables fail. Deep borewells through rocky strata, 24×7 industrial dewatering, mining operations, and heavy agricultural setups with long cable pulls all demand the additional protection that only a rubber outer sheath can provide.
With 30% higher current carrying capacity than standard market cables and double-layer protection (inner PVC + outer rubber), this is the cable you specify when failure is not an option. The anti-burst technology keeps inner cores physically separated even under the mechanical stress of deep installation.

Three Core Flat Submersible Cable — Rubber Flex
FAQ - Rubber Flex Flat Submersible Cable
The Rubber Flex uses a double-layer protection system inner PVC insulation on each individual core plus a tough rubber outer sheath compared to single-layer PVC in standard cables. This gives it 30% higher current carrying capacity, superior resistance to mechanical damage during deep installation pulls, and significantly better performance in rocky strata conditions where standard PVC cables crack or fail prematurely.
Choose Rubber Flex when any of the following apply:
- Borewell depth exceeds 150 metres
- Rock formation is hard or the casing is uneven (common in Deccan plateau, Vindhya, and peninsular hard-rock regions)
- Pump runs 24×7 for industrial dewatering or mining operations
- Cable pull during installation involves significant friction or sharp edges
- Previous standard cables have failed within 2–3 years in the same borewell
If your application involves continuous duty or hostile underground conditions, Rubber Flex is the correct specification, not an upgrade.
Anti-burst technology refers to built-in PVC safety walls that physically separate the individual cores inside the cable. In standard cables, if one core’s insulation degrades, it can contact an adjacent core and cause a short circuit underground which destroys the motor winding and requires pulling the entire pump assembly. The anti-burst walls prevent core-to-core contact even when one insulation layer is compromised, significantly reducing the risk of motor failure from underground short circuits.
Yes, this is one of its primary industrial use cases. The rubber outer sheath resists the mechanical abrasion, chemical exposure, and continuous flexing that occurs in mine dewatering setups. It is rated for 24×7 continuous duty, which standard PVC submersible cables are not designed for. For mine sump dewatering where pumps run continuously and cable replacement is operationally disruptive, Rubber Flex is the appropriate specification.
No — do not downsize based on the higher current rating. The 30% higher current capacity means the cable runs cooler at the same load, extending cable and motor life. Always size your cable based on the pump motor’s nameplate current rating and the borewell depth (for voltage drop calculation). The thermal headroom is a reliability benefit, not a justification to reduce conductor size.
The Rubber Flex is engineered for deep borewell installations, including hard-rock borewells in the 150–300+ metre range where standard cables fail due to mechanical stress and thermal buildup. The exact depth rating depends on the conductor size selected, the pump motor’s current draw, and the voltage drop calculation for that specific run length.
