LV & MV Rubber Composite Cables

Integrated power, control and signal for mining, cranes, steel plants and industrial equipment.

BMI Cables manufactures low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) rubber composite cables that bring power, control and signal elements together within one cable assembly.

Each construction is selected for the equipment’s electrical requirements, operating environment and cable-handling arrangement. Earth-continuity and pilot conductors are incorporated where required by the approved design.

Product Overview

What Is a Rubber Composite Cable?

A rubber composite cable combines power conductors with control and signal elements within a common cable assembly. This integrated construction can simplify routing and reduce the number of separately managed cables on industrial equipment.

Our LV & MV Rubber Composite Cable Range

LV Rubber Composite Cables — Power, Control & Signal

BMI’s LV rubber composite cables integrate low-voltage power conductors with control and signal elements in a common cable assembly.

Core combinations, screening and rubber construction are selected for the connected equipment and operating conditions. Earth-continuity and pilot conductors are included where required by the equipment and approved cable design.

Product selection considers

  • Power-circuit voltage and load
  • Control-circuit voltage and conductor requirements
  • Signal type and electrical characteristics
  • Required earth-continuity and pilot arrangement
  • Installation conditions and cable movement

Mining Equipment Composite Cable — Rubber Sheathed

BMI’s MV rubber composite cables integrate medium-voltage power conductors with control and signal elements within an engineered cable assembly.

The insulation system, circuit separation, screening and termination arrangement are selected for the specified power voltage, auxiliary circuits and operating duty.

The MV rating applies to the power circuit. It does not mean that the control and signal circuits operate at the same voltage. Their individual requirements are addressed within the complete cable design.

Available voltage grades, core combinations and operating limits are specified in the approved product datasheet.

Custom Rubber Composite Cables for OEMs & Projects

For equipment and projects requiring a particular combination of circuits, BMI reviews the electrical, mechanical and environmental requirements before confirming a suitable construction.

Custom enquiries should identify the power, control and signal functions, together with the required earth-continuity or pilot arrangement. Proposed designs are subject to engineering feasibility and the applicable product requirements.

Standards & Product Documentation

The applicable standard depends on the cable construction, voltage and intended use. Relevant references may include:

ReferenceArea covered
IS 9968 — applicable partElastomer-insulated cables within the voltage scope of the relevant part
IS 14494Elastomer-insulated flexible cables for use in mines
IS 8130Conductors for insulated electric cables and flexible cords

The applicable edition, cable type and conformity requirements should be identified in the product documentation.

Where a BIS licence or other product approval is specified, its scope must cover the offered construction. Quality-management certification should be presented separately from product performance and approval claims.

FAQ - Composite Cable

LV and MV identify the voltage class of the power circuit. Both product families can integrate power, control and signal elements.

Their insulation systems, screening, dimensions and testing requirements depend on the selected construction and application.

Yes, when the complete cable is specifically designed for that combination.

The construction must provide the appropriate insulation, separation and screening, with suitable terminations for the respective circuits. The control and signal circuits retain their own specified electrical requirements.

BMI offers LV and MV rubber composite cable constructions. The available power ratings, core sizes and control/signal combinations are confirmed against the application and approved product datasheet.

Share the equipment specification so that the appropriate construction can be identified.

Not automatically. These handling arrangements impose different mechanical demands.

Select the cable for the actual movement, bend radius, tension, travel and operating conditions stated in its datasheet.

Earth-continuity conductors provide the protective-earth connection to the equipment.

Where specified, a pilot conductor forms part of a monitoring loop connected to compatible protection equipment. The monitoring system can initiate disconnection when it detects a fault within its designed monitoring functions.

Screening can be specified according to the signal and interference requirements of the approved construction.

The signal type, electrical characteristics and termination arrangement must be considered together. A generic screened element should not be assumed suitable for every communication protocol.

The relevant standard depends on voltage, construction and application. References may include the applicable part of IS 9968, IS 14494 for mining cables and IS 8130 for conductors.

The product documentation identifies the requirements applicable to the offered cable.
